Why the song was written
A while back, my son Justin was watching TV when a commercial about world poverty came on. He watched it attentively right up until the end, and was shocked when the images of children appeared.
When it finished, he looked at my wife and I and simply asked “Can I help?” – hence the chorus. He was only 8 years old at time. I then decided to write a song – with all political nuances aside – and thought it would be fitting to have him appear in the video himself. Although he was very sick the day we filmed the video, he was very proud to do it!
This song is close to my heart and very important to Justin and he loves the fact that it’s going to help other children.
